Design Process
PROBLEMS: The course was originally an in-person instructor-led course which was turned into an e-learning course with very limited interactions. To make the course more engaging, it needed to be revamped.
INITIAL ASSESSMENT:
The original course had too many topics and therefore it had to be split up. The e-learning course described here only teaches a part of the original source document, which is regular move-out procedures.
Many materials were common sense for people who had been a renter. Therefore, in some cases, I chose to close the gaps using gamified activities or scenarios first, and then teach the materials through feedback.
Contents which dealt with the laws and procedures needed to be reinforced through scenarios.
SOLUTION:
The revamped course should incorporate scenarios and games/activities to enhance learning.
To help prepare the participants to pass the test, the revamped course incorporates a couple of ungraded real-life based knowledge checks and ends with a graded assessment.
PROJECT’S OVERARCHING SCENARIO:
This course follows the stories of fictional renters and their property manager. Participants learn the materials through processing these tenants’ move-out requests.
Course Development
Once the design document and storyboard were reviewed and approved, I proceeded to build the course using the Articulate Storyline. I created and inserted Well Said Labs voice-over with background music, a Vyond video and three job aids. I designed custom visuals using Canva and inserted characters from Vyond to match the Vyond video. The course was then submitted for review and changes were implemented based on the feedback.
